In brief :Patkol lands Bt200m deal in the Maldives

Construction firm Patkol has signed a deal worth Bt200 million to construct a cold storage in the Maldives.
This is a part of its effort to expand its business in the region after Thailand's economic slow-down. Vice chairman and managing director Piya Chongvatana said the company had begun to expand its business into the region last year and succeeded in gaining turnkey deals with Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Bangladesh. With the expansion, the company expects its revenue will increase up to 10 per cent this year, Piya said. It had total revenue of Bt3.8 billion and net profit of Bt100.45 million in 2006.
Three fairs in one Three of Thailand's primary travel and tourism showcase events are to be merged into one function targeted at trade representatives and consumers from June 7-10 at Impact Muang Thong Thani Exhibition Centre. The event will bring together the Thailand Travel Mart (TTM) 2007, Amazing Gateway to the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) and the Thailand Tourism Festival (TTF) 2007, making it the largest such event ever held here. The 315 vendors from Thailand and the GMS are expected to participate in the (TTM) 2007 Plus Amazing Gateway to the GMS are 224 hotels, five airlines, eight eco-tourism and adventure operators, 18 health-tourism facilities, 29 tour operators and 31 GMS firms.
Good start for Mazda Mazda Sales (Thailand) announced that its sales for the first four months of this year stood at 5,400 units, a promising beginning for this year. The Mazda BT-50 sports pickup showed excellent sales of 4,288 units, reflecting 33-per-cent growth and gaining 4-per-cent of market share compared to the same period in 2006, while the Mazda 3 sold 1,106 units, taking the third position in the medium passenger-car segment. In addition, Mazda will be extending its promotional campaign until May 31.
