School head banished for beating boy

A school director based in the northern province of Lampang, has been transferred to an isolated tambon as punishment after being found guilty of punching a teenage boy in the face for being drunk.

Somsak Saleewong, former director of Ban Don Chai School in Thoen district, is also facing a charge of assault leading to non-serious injuries.

Somsak was fined Bt1,000 by police for punching a 13-year-old student for being drunk on April 27.

An internal investigation began the day after, after the boy's relatives lodged a complaint with local police.

The boy's relatives later lodged another complaint with a senior education official. The official eventually signed the transfer order after a probe found that Somsak was guilty for excessive use of force.

Somsak will be the director of Tha Ma Kwern School in Tambon Mae Pa, which is located in a remote area about 40 kilometres from Ban Don Chai School.
