India down Australia

[VOLLEYBALL] Cellar-dwellers India climbed off the bottom after tasting their first victory in the round-robin of the 6th Asian Youth Girls' Volleyball Championship at the Chakangrao Gymnasium, thrashing Australia in straight sets yesterday.
Hard-hitting Swetha Nagaraju fired 13 points to lead the Indians in defeating the lacklustre Aussies 25-19 25-21 25-20. It was a fine revival for the Indian side, who lost to Japan 25-15 25-7 25-10 on Wednesday, as they showed co-ordination and never let their rivals come closer than two-points in the entire first set. The Indian victory sent the Australians tumbling to the bottom of the table. Meanwhile, Aika Akutagawa scored 11 points for Japan, who are yet to drop a single set to any team. Japan maintained their unbeaten record with a 25-6 25-5 25-7 victory over Sri Lanka yesterday. Defending champions China were to take on Taiwan, while Thailand were to play South Korea in their fourth matches late yesterday. Today is a day of rest. Somporn Suphop The Nation Kamphaeng Phet
