Strong tourism growth predicted

Eighteen Asia-Pacific destinations are expected to receive more than US$110 billion (Bt3.8 trillion) in additional tourism revenue over the next three years, according to a "Asia Pacific Tourism Forecasts 2007-2009" report just released by the Pacific Asia Tourism Association (PATA).
Thailand will be one of the biggest beneficiaries, gaining an extra $13 billion by 2009. Other markets likely to receive strong receipts growth over the period include Malaysia with close to $11 billion, South Korea with $7 billion, China with $36 billion, and Macau with $5 billion. The predicted windfall for Thailand follows on from the results of the recent Asia Travel Intentions Survey 2007, which revealed that 9 per cent more travellers were looking at Asia as their next destination, with one in five ranking Thailand as their most likely destination.
DHL expansion Express and logistics firm DHL announced yesterday coverage expansion of its Time Definite Delivery (TDD) service, which is now available in four geographical regions covering Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and the newly added United States. The inter-regional expansion enables DHL customers in Asia Pacific to ship via the extensive TDD network of 46 markets and 227 major cities. TDD comprises StartDay Express and MidDay Express, providing guaranteed door-to-door deliveries with the latest possible collection times for pre-9 am or pre-noon deliveries respectively. Key features are a money-back guarantee and pro-active shipment notifications. Launched in 2002, TDD has seen tremendous growth, especially in Asia Pacific with an increase of 50 per cent from 2005 to 2006 alone.
