Positivefilm-makers wanted

Thai film-makers have been invited to take part in a competition to make a short documentary that will boost understanding and change attitudes about sex and the real lives of people with HIV.
"Nang Maan Rood 3" - Little Sex Film project 3 -contest is coordinated by Aids Access Foundation, the Programme for Appropriate Technology in Health (PATH), and the Thai Network for People Living with HIV/Aids. Those who enter have to make a 15-minute film that creates a positive image about sex and people with HIV. Sangsiri Tree-mankha, from Aids Access, said: "This year's theme is 'Staying positive' and it focuses on HIV patients' real lives. It aims to remind parents to be open-minded about sex and to try to find ways to teach their children about it instead of being secretive about it. "The film will be about positive things about people with HIV. It will give society the truth about the condition of people with HIV, which is not as severe as people think." The films will be screened at the Nang Maan Rood 3 Film Festival on October 27-28. The winning film will be put on VCDs that will be sent to over 500 schools linked to the Aids Access Foundation's network, so that students around the country can watch it. Individuals or teams of up to three people who want to enter the competition must apply by May 23. An application form is available at www.aidsaccess.com. Applications should be sent to The Little Sex Film project 3, 48/282 Centerplace, Ramkham-haeng Road, Saphan Sung, Bangkok 10240. Or they can e-mail to shortfilm@aidsaccess.com.
