PATA appointment for TAT's Phornsiri

Tourism Authority of Thailand governor Phornsiri Manoharn has been voted the Pacific Asia Travel Association's chairman (government category) for the 2007-08 year.

The appointment requires her to attend the PATA Travel Mart in September and the PATA board of directors meeting. It will also allow her to exchange tourism opinions and strategies with 800 leading organisations worldwide that are PATA members. - The Nation.

 

DST International has new Bangkok office

DST International (DSTi), a leading provider of investment management solutions to the asset management and securities industries, has opened a new office in Bangkok at Fenix Tower.

The company said the move would position DSTi Thailand to continue its rapid expansion, accommodating up to 1,000 associates.

In Thailand for more than 12 years, DSTi originally had 22 employees providing IT development and support services to local clients and now has over 450 employees servicing clients in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Asia across a wide range of technical platforms.

 "This major investment by DSTi represents a significant commitment to Thailand and our future expansion in the Asia region," said DSTi Asia CEO Rhonda Lepsch. - The Nation.

FedEx Express expands priority-freight coverage

FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp, announced yesterday the expansion of its International Priority Freight Service from the Asia Pacific to an additional 27 countries.

The expansion increases express freight coverage served from Asia Pacific to more than 90 countries.

"With international trade volume growing at more than six per cent per year over the past decade, the expansion of fast and reliable airfreight services is essential to businesses in Asia," said David L Cunningham Jr, president of FedEx Asia Pacific. - The Nation.
