School traffic plan

Traffic Police have been working on ways to minimise delays when children return to school next week.

Extra emphasis has been put on 64 schools in Bangkok, most of which are famous and whose students are usually driven to class in their parents' cars.

"We will work with local police in regulating traffic flow at drop-off spots in front of these schools," Traffic Police chief Maj-General Pramoj Pathumwong said yesterday.

The schools include Bangkok Christian College, Mater Dei, Rajini and Saint Gabriel's.

Pramoj said his division had already studied information from past years in a bid to work out the best traffic solutions.

Most schools in Bangkok begin the new semester next Wednesday.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Lt-General Adisorn Nonsee said yesterday he had already instructed the traffic division to prepare and hand out 100,000 leaflets to parents so that they know about the traffic plans.
