Wednesday's campaign by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) to have entertainment venues' decorating lights and household light bulbs switched off for 15 minutes were widely welcomed by city residents



Seven soldiers killed in Pattani

Insurgents killed seven soldiers in Narathiwat's Rangae district after bombing their truck. They shot at point blank the soldiers who were injured by the explosion to ensure that all were dead.



Thai household energy expenses rise 16 per cent per year

Average Thai household energy expenses rose 16 per cent annually from 2004 to 2006, due mainly to the sharp rise in fuel prices, according to the National Statistics Office. From 2002 to 2004, the rise was only 6.9 per cent per annum.
