Pimex moving to Royal Marina

For the first time in its five-year history, the Phuket International Marine Expo (Pimex) this year will be held at the Royal Phuket Marina, from December 6-9.
Royal Phuket Marina developer Gulu Lalvani said last week he was delighted with the news and welcomed Pimex as part of his dream to cement the position of Phuket as the first destination of choice for marine leisure. A total of 2,000 square metres of air-conditioned exhibition space is being made available for exhibitors' booths, and up to 50 boats are expected in the water and on the dock. Coinciding with Phuket King's Cup Regatta - recently voted Yachting Event of the Year for the second time at the prestigious Christofle Asia Boating Awards - the show will continue to be an integral part of Phuket's annual marine showcase. Pimex, Thailand's first international boat show, was conceived and is organised by Image Asia Events under the direction of show director Andy Dowden. As part of the company's strategic restructuring, and in the interests of maintaining a close relationship with its industry base, the organisation and operation of Pimex 2007 has been transferred to Dowden's Andaman Marine Consultants company. Marketing support for Pimex 2007 will continue to be provided by Paul Poole of South East Asia Co.
