WTO/Russia talks on Thai rice
Thailand will negotiate with Russia in the World Trade Organisation to clear up charges that Moscow was employing unfair trade practices for Thai rice imports, the Foreign Trade Department said yesterday.
Director-general Apiradi Tantraporn said the government was confident Russia would revoke its export certification requirement for Thai rice soon, as its accusation that a chemical substance was mixed in was not true. Other exporters of rice to Russia, including China, Vietnam and Pakistan, will work with Thailand to resolve the issue as they face the same problem, he said.
