AIA's first-year premiums soar 13% in four months

American International Assurance (Thailand) posted 13-per-cent year-on-year growth in first-year premiums in the first four months of its fiscal year starting December, thanks to its AIA Financial Health Check programme.

The country's largest life insurer received Bt2.75 billion in first-year premiums from operations from December to March. Total premiums reached Bt23.98 billion.

The programme launched late last year, focusing on individual financial checks of AIA's policyholders as well as 9,450 newly recruited agents, helped out in the premium increase.

At the end of last year, AIA had Bt299.24 billion in assets, of which Bt219.16 billion was reserves.
