Council of State to rule on TITV revenues

The PM's Office was waiting for the Council of State to rule on which agency will manage the money from commercials advertised on TITV before it can decide on the station's financial problems, PM's Office permanent secretary Chulayuth Hiranyavasit said yesterday.
"When the Council of State rules if the PM's Office or the Public Relations Department [PRD] has the right to the money from advertisements, we will issue the regulations on TITV's expenses. However, the regulations have been drafted. If it's clear after the ruling, we will ask for the Cabinet's approval before the regulations are active," he said. The PRD and the PM's Office have been working together on TITV's financial problems and should have some resolutions within this week, he said. They needed to "bend some rules" of the Finance Ministry to solve the problems in the short term. Meanwhile, Chulayuth said he had heard that minor shareholders of iTV and some television producers might file lawsuits against the government and the PM's Office for billions of baht. However, he had not received any written lawsuit. He said iTV had not filed its assets declaration yet, saying only it was in the process of doing so.
