Saving Colonel Noppadol

A police colonel who lost an arm and leg earlier this month in an insurgent bombing has undergone a sixth operation. Doctors declared it successful.

Colonel Noppadol Phueksomon's 12-hour operation at Songkhla Nakarin Hospital on Saturday involved 12 surgeons and another dozen assistants.

They used blood-vessel grafts to help speed his healing.

Interior Minister Aree Wongsearaya visited Noppadol after he regained consciousness yesterday.
