University admission results due by May 15

University admission results will be released by May 15 at the latest and admission requirements will remain the same for the next two years, Education Minister Wijit Srisa-arn said yesterday.
"The announcement is scheduled for May 15. But if we can complete the process sooner, the results will come out sooner too," Wijit said. His assurance came amid the ongoing battle over Ordinary National Educational Test (O-Net) scores in the Administrative Court. Last year the scores became the main criterion in university admissions. According to the University Presidents Council of Thailand (UPCT), only O-Net scores from the first time students take the test count in admissions because the test was meant to measure a student's academic ability at completion of Grade 12. But hundreds of students who graduated from high school last year sat the O-Net again this year to boost their chances of entering their preferred university. Some of them petitioned the Khon Kaen Administrative Court for help. The court issued an injunction against authorities using the university-admission criteria announced by the UPCT. But the injunction was suspended on appeal by the Supreme Administrative Court on Thursday, which allowed this year's admission process to get back on track.
