SET warns investors to monitor shareholding

Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) president Patareeya Benjapholchai issued a warning to investors that they should closely monitor the shareholders' structure of listed companies before making investment decisions following changes in the structure of several listed companies.
The structure of the major shareholders of many listed companies has been changed and this will have an impact on the operating results of those listed companies in the future, Patareeya said, adding that investors should monitor the announcements of listed companies. The SET hopes that the new major shareholders of those listed companies will concentrate on business and operate with transparency, she said. The SET will take responsibility for posting signs when their information is unclear, said Patareeya. Adkinson Securities, Everland, Siam2You and Sea Horse are among the listed companies that have changed their shareholders' structure recently. "Irregular movement of share prices [following the change in major shareholders' structure] is a normal phenomenon and the SET will do nothing with the exception of abnormal movements in share price," she said. "Shareholders must follow the change and make a decision by themselves whether the change will be good or bad for business." She also suggested investors snap up shares at the moment, because downside risk was limited.
