DTAC expects revenue surge
Total Access Communication (DTAC) expects its revenues to soar 12-15 per cent this year compared with last year's 12-per-cent growth, due to the company's aggressive roll-out of network coverage to tap into the upcountry market and the absence of a price war, CEO Sigve Brekke said yesterday.
DTAC posted first-quarter revenues of Bt16.164 billion, up 30 per cent quarter on quarter and 32.7 per cent year on year. Its net profit stood at Bt1.559 billion, up 19.4 per cent quarter on quarter and 24.1 per cent year on year.The second-largest cellular operator has 13.3 million subscribers, of which 1.46 million were acquired in the first quarter. DTAC has already paid the interconnection charge booked during February to True Move, but Brekke declined to specify the amount. The company is waiting for the February interconnection-charge invoice from Advanced Info Service (AIS). DTAC, AIS and True Move forged bilateral interconnection deals late last year and started billing each other in February. Introduced last May by the National Telecommunications Commission, the interconnection regulations require all telecom operators to share voice and data revenues between the two networks involved in a call on a bilateral basis.
