Jor Sor 100 a big help in finding girl

Jor Sor 100, a popular radio traffic station, played a big role in helping to locate a stolen car - and safely return a child asleep in the back - after it was taken from a Bangkok police station late on Tuesday night.
"It hardly ever happens. It's lucky the policeman knew within an hour that his car was stolen as it helped us manage everything easier," a female staff member said. All the staff had tried very hard and did everything they could because they were concerned about the child's safety, she said. Jor Sor 100 received a call from the Por Tek Tueng rescue centre at about 11.30pm on Tuesday night. They were told Lat Krabang Police Sergeant Akradej Makasen's car had been stolen, with his sixyearold daughter asleep in the back. A station host then contacted Akradej and asked him to describe the incident live on the radio. All taxi drivers are members and thousands listen to the station. They helped to find the car and return the child to her parents at around 3am. Normally, Jor Sor 100 receives an average of five to seven complaints a day about car thefts. The station employee said pickup trucks were a favourite target for car thieves, and most were stolen at night while their owners were asleep. They were often unaware of the theft until the next morning, when they would call the station. Jor Sor 100 has a network of members who report on traffic accidents and emergency incidents, such as pregnant women in labour while on way to hospital. And many of members and listeners often respond to the station's calls for help. Saijai Kirdmongkon The Nation
