Tennis star joins beauty queen
Thailand will not only be the home of the most beautiful woman in the universe (yes, you cynics, we are talking about former Miss Universe 2005 Natalie Glebova), but also the world's No-1 female tennis player, Justine Henin.
Khao Sod newspaper reported yesterday that the Belgian champion had decided to buy an apartment on Koh Samui as a getaway location during breaks in the gruelling tennis season.The newspaper reported that Henin had bought a luxury apartment in the Infinity Samui residential project. The report didn't specify the price tag. An executive at Infinity Samui said that Henin's interest should be good for Thailand's tourism industry and for Koh Samui in particular. After all, Thailand is a favourite destination for international celebrities who prefer to buy property here to spend their vacations. Henin was said to be interested in Koh Samui and she wanted to spend her vacation time here. The price of the luxury apartment shouldn't be a problem, as Henin has collected a good number of trophies this year. Her career winnings exceed US$14 million (Bt488 million). The minimum price at the Infinity Samui is Bt9.8 million, which should give readers some idea about the price tag of Henin's apartment. The project consists of 65 units located on a cliff with a panoramic ocean view. But don't expect to see Henin any time soon, as the project is scheduled for completion in the middle of 2009.
