The city has cancelled a Friday concert for Sanam Luang to allow a PTV protest rally to go ahead.
The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration is using the ground from April 23 to May 1 for concerts to honour His Majesty the King. However, on Monday night a group called Thai Patriots gathered near the front of the concert stage and pelted performers with objects. "We agreed to cancel the concert scheduled for Friday to prevent more violence like Monday night," Governor Apirak Kosayodhin said after meeting with senior Metropolitan Police officers. Meanwhile, PTV said in a statement that its president Veera Musigapong would today file a criminal lawsuit against Defence Minister Boonrawd Somtas for allegedly accusing the banned station of having been funded by old power clique.
