Health: Boost for traditional medicine

The National Health Security Office (NHSO) will allocate Bt28.2 million to promote traditional medicine at the provincial level as part of its universal "health-security system".
Public Health Minister Mongkol na Songkhla yesterday said the NHSO board agreed to give traditional medicine a boost. Traditional medicine includes Thai massage for physical rehabilitation and other alternative remedies. It will establish a promotion fund and spend an initial Bt28.2 million as additional funding for pilot programmes. The NHSO payment for Thai massage will be increased from Bt100 per visit to Bt200 per hour, he said.
Financial restructuring :Amaret fronts DSI over Lehman deal Former Financial Sector Restructuring Authority (FRA) chairman Amaret Sila-On will hear soon whether he will face criminal charges of involvement in the suspicious sale of seized assets. Amaret appeared yesterday before a Department of Special Investigation (DSI) inquiry. DSI chief Sunai Manomai-udom would not say if Amaret defended himself against questions relating to his granting permission for the 1998 sale to Lehman Brothers of a large amount of seized assets. Permission had initially been granted by then FRA secretary-general Vicharat Vichitvadakan.
