Shooting sparks row

Several hundred Phang Nga villagers yesterday demonstrated outside the Koh Yao police station, demanding that a district official allegedly involved in a fatal shooting be prosecuted.

The angry villagers paraded the body of one of the victims, who is believed to have been shot dead during a karaoke-bar fight late on Friday night by a Koh Yao district officer. Another victim has a gunshot wound to the shoulder.
