Internet TV operator planning for free trial

TT&T is preparing to trial its IPTV service in just a few months.
Supot Tiarawut, managing director of TT&T Subscriber and Services, said yesterday that 1,000 customers of its parent TT&T Plc would be randomly offered set-top boxes free of charge to access the new service on its Maxnettv.tv multimedia content homepage. The Internet Protocol television technology (IPTV) transmits TV programmes to PC users via a broadband connection. Typically, IPTV offers TV programmes, video on demand and Internet calling. TT&T operates a telephone service in the provinces, while TT&T Subscriber and Services has won a licence from the National Telecommunications Commission to offer an Internet access service. Maxnettv.tv has 35,000 registered members. TT&T Subscriber and Services targets 400,000 broadband subscribers by yearend, double its present customer base, while the overall broadband market would soar from around 700,000 subscribers now to 1 million, Supot added.
