In brief :Bumrungrad targets tourists

Bumrungrad International Hospital, Thailand's premier private medical centre, has formed an alliance with Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina to promote medical tourism to its 1.3 million members.

Through subsidiary Companion Global Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield will assist members interested in medical treatment abroad by providing information and access to Bumrungrad's website and a US-based contact centre managed by World Access, a leading travel-insurance and international healthcare-assistance company.

The alliance is a first between a major US healthcare insurer and a Thai hospital and is expected to pave the way for more medical travel.

Four Pattana in roofing deal

Home-builder Four Pattana signed a contract to be the exclusive distributor for Easy Truss, a steel roofing truss, and expects sales of Bt40 million in the first year, said managing director Pramote Teerakul. Easy Truss is a new system that facilitates home construction and reduces costs, he added.
