The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 is new PDA phone with a sleek and sexy look. It features all kinds of important wireless connections, including 3G or UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) and HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access), Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or wireless LAN (802.11b/g) as well as EDGE (Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution or GSM Evolution). Although the i600 does not come with the full editing capabilities of Office Mobile, it provides all the necessary PDA functions for executives on the go, who can check mail and browse the Internet. Users can also read Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDF files with the preinstalled Piscel Viewer. The i600 could also function as a modem for wireless Internet connections thanks to the OS provided. Text input is easy with the QWERTY keyboard. Although the keys are tiny, users can quickly learn to type quickly. As its Ultra Messaging name suggests, the i600 is fun to use for typing SMS messages. The thumb wheel on the right side of the phone also makes it easy to navigate through applications. The phone comes with an intuitive interface, which is rotating folders with application icons. Once the desired folder is rotated to the top of the screen, directional keys can be used to select a specific application. The i600 runs Windows Mobile 5.0 for Smartphone and is powered by a 220MHz TI OMAP 1710 processor. Tests found that it can browse the files in the built-in memory of the phone fast enough. The applications are stored on its 128 megabytes of ROM and data could be stored on the 64 MB of RAM provided. The memory can be expanded up to 2 gigabytes using a microSD card. Since it is designed to be ultra slim, its screen is also small. Its 2.3-inch TFT screen is capable of displaying 65,536 colours at a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. The screen is really bright and highly readable. Its slim body measures only 113 x 59 x 11.8 mm and it weighs only 105 grams. The phone also has very good audio quality. The Samsung Ultra Messaging i600 has a suggested retail price of Bt18,900.
