Bid to tackle software piracy

The Business Software Alliance (BSA) announced yesterday that Thai Software Enterprise would join the fight against software piracy.
Thai Software Enterprise, founded in 1998, employs 32 software developers and support staff. Managing director Somporn Maneeratanakul said that joining the BSA would enable the company to work closely with other technology companies to protect intellectual property rights. Tarun Sawney, the BSA's anti-piracy director, said the company looked forward to working with Thai Software Enterprise on policy, education and enforcement. In Thailand last year, the BSA assisted law-enforcement personnel in 80 raids that led to the seizure of 3,156 items of pirated software from 1,588 PCs worth Bt246 million, Sawney said. - The Nation.
