Argentine test for Nethra in WBA bid

[BOXING] Thai ace Nethra Sasiprapa gets his first crack at the world title when he faces off with Juan Carlos Reveco of Argentina for thevacant World Boxing Association [WBA] title in May.
The 24-year-old fighter, unbeaten in 17 previous fights with seven knockouts under his belt, gets the chance he has long awaited after Japan's Koki Kameda relinquished the title for failing to keep his weight within the 108-pound division. The Japanese boxer decided to move up a division to fight in the flyweight class instead. It remains to be seen whether Nethra, who hails from Ranong province, could translate his excellent form in the Pan Asia Boxing Association stage - a less-regarded organisation - onto the bigger arena. "It is Nethra's luck that finally we managed to arrange this fight. Previously, I myself flew to Argentina to negotiate about the bout with Reveco's camp but the initial talks were unsuccessful," said Korkiart Panichayarom, the Thai boxer's manager. "The association had initially ordered the two parties to open the negotiation again today but we had a wayside talk before reaching an agreement that the fight will be held in Argentina." Korkiart has already planned a training programme for Nethra, who currently lies at No 3 in the organisation's ranking, to condition him for what could the bout of his life. "When the chance comes, we must prepare for the challenge as well as we can. I have ordered most of my boxers to take turns in sparring with Nethra. I'm convinced he can beat the Argentine," said Korkiart.
