Samui police nab alleged child killer

Samui police yesterday arrested a man they say murdered a young boy and seriously injured his mother in a knife attack last month at a newly-built home on the resort island near Surat Thani.
Waiphoj Jai-ngarm, 33, denied the charge after his arrest and three hours of questioning. But Samui police said that Waiphoj had been identified as the attacker by Oraphan Yanacroft, who survived the brutal attack and witnessed her son's murder. Station chief Pol Col Chaiyuth Nilwong Waiphoj's sought to kill Oraphan and her son after he lost a court case to her recently for unpaid debts. He later talked to a group of 20 people who gathered outside the Samui police station to proclaim his alleged innocence, saying that police would proceed with the case in a transparent manner. On March 12, five-year-old Thomas Yanacroft, and his mother Oraphan, 30, were attacked by a lone intruder. The boy's throat was slashed and he was stabbed several times. The mother also suffered a serious knife wound to her throat.
