Dampaknam beat Sunspark to end slide

Dampaknam ended their losing streak with a 68-65 victory over Sunspark in the men's Pool A preliminary round of the 47th King's Cup Basketball Championships at Siam University yesterday.
Dampaknam, who lost the previous two games, found their rhythm and ended the third period with a 57-48 lead. Sunspark, with Supachai Tandamrong, Satit Sarasuk and Nopporn Saengthong, added a number of shots to close the gap to one point with 17 seconds remaining in the last session. However, Pornpong Limhaem let go a great chance of taking the lead for Sunspark when he missed a lay-up in the crucial minutes of the match. Sunspark were forced to commit fouls while trying to hold back the rivals' game in the decisive seconds before Taweekit Sirinakulpipat made two free throws to help Dampaknam grab their first win. In the Group B match, SK Polymate defeated Tiew Pai Ngarm B 86-77. SK Polymate have two wins against one loss, while Tiew Pai Ngarm B have only one win from the three matches. In the women's division, Waralak Matawawong poured in 20 points to lead Chiang Mai over Kasembundit University 46-42, while Hi-Tech trounced Raknamjai 59-16 in the Pool A game. Chalisa Chamnanwaree, Supranee Rat-rodkit, Tiapawan Por-lam and Pawina Katukruek scored 12 points apiece to power the unbeaten Rattanabundit past Diamond 84-39 in the Group B competition.
