Salee plans Bt130m outlay to raise output

Salee Industry, a manufacturer of computer parts and electrical cable trays, will invest Bt130 million this year to boost its production capacity.

Of the total investment, Bt100 million will be spent on 50 units of computerised numerical control (CNC) machines for its subsidiary SC Wado, and the rest will be used to increase the seven plastic-injection machines at its own facility to 10.

Late last year Salee acquired a 75-per-cent stake in SC Wado, whose output consists of 90 per cent computer parts and 10 per cent automotive parts.

Investor Relations Department manager Supoj Soontarinka said the company needed to boost production because its existing processing lines had reached full capacity.

Meanwhile, sales revenues are targeted to grow 30 per cent to Bt1 billion this year. The company generated a net profit of Bt36.93 million last year, up 27 per cent from 2005. It posted revenues of Bt631 million last year, up 66 per cent, thanks to revenue recognition from SC Wado and higher demand in the market.

Of total revenues, 35 per cent will come from Salee Industry, 30 per cent from SC Wado and the rest from its subsidiary Salee Printing.

Supoj said company revenues were expected to reach the previous growth target of 30 per cent for this year's first quarter.

He said SC Wado would focus more on expanding into upstream industries such as aluminium injection.

Hence, it plans to list SC Wado on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) in 2010, because it needs to raise large funding to expand its business.

SC Wado has registered capital of Bt96 million. However, Supoj declined to reveal how it would to raise its registered capital to the SET's minimum rate of Bt300 million.

He added that Salee Industry might enter the SET at some point. It has registered capital of Bt240 million.
