Bomb suspects given help

Protection of human rights and legal counsel have been provided to two men the police suspect of being New Year's Eve bombers, but the assistance given to the two must not affect the public image of government agencies that are taking action against them, Justice Ministry permanent secretary Charan Pakdithanakul said yesterday.

Officials have been helping Pratya Preechavej and Yutthaphong Kittisriworra-phong after they were charged with five serious offences on Wednesday and a court rejected their request to have arrest warrants revoked.

Both men were released on bail yesterday after one night in custody at Prawet police station, whose jurisdiction covers the Seacon Square shopping complex in Suan Luang district where one bomb attack took place.

Charan said officials had been instructed to avoid causing difficulties to any government entity taking action against the

men.

Both men came forward last week to protest their innocence. They said they were the two men in police photos but had nothing to do with the attack.
