The host of ESPN'S Football Focus programme, John Dykes, participated in a charity event to raise Bt500,000 for the Life Home Project in Phuket on the weekend.
The Life Home Project (LHP) is a foundation that primarily helps women afflicted by HIV/Aids and their children, who may be HIV positive themselves, and other disadvantaged children. Along with Dykes were familiar faces on ESPN and StarSports such as Andrew Leci of Here We Go, Andy Penders, Sharky Tan of Football Crazy, and live English Premier League match commentator, Charlie Webster. Seven of the nine-member ESPN StarSports group took part in a charity golf competition which used the 4 person Texas Scramble format at the Laguna Phuket Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. Each member of the ESPN StarSports team was separated to sit at a different table for the dinner and the football quiz hosted by Dykes. The night ended with many attractive souvenirs such as Fulham and Manchester United's shirts with autographs of the respective team's players auctioned off. On Sunday, the ESPN StarSports team and representatives from Laguna Holiday Club Resort visited the LHP to present Bt500,000 for the purchase of a mini-van to be used as a school bus for the children.
