The program helps mobile users reduce the time they need to send messages

Mobile users who bundle the QuickThai program in their mobile phone will no longer find it difficult to use Thai characters when they want to send short message system (SMS) to their friends.
Viroon Vichianwattanachai, chief executive officer of G Softbiz, said QuickThai enables people to write their messages in Thai and send them in a second. QuickThai comes with dynamic prediction which allow users to write one character of Thai, and the program will predict the words the users might want to use, or write them into the sentence. He said once users enter a Thai character on their phone the program will come up with four to nine predictions on the mobile display. It has an accuracy rate of 80 to 90 per cent. The firm would not give more details about the words in the prediction database. For example, when users want to send the message: "Tomorrow you have a meeting" in Thai, the original message needs users to enter 33 characters on the display. Users who have a mobile phone which is bundled with QuickThai need only write eight Thai characters - the first character of the word in most cases. The program will show the words it predicts the user wants to use. Pichitchai Seesen, chief operating officer, said QuickThai is the first commercial dynamic word prediction system in Thailand to enter the commercial market. He said as the Thai alphabet has more than 44 characters, it is difficult for mobile users who want to send messages to their friends or family. The program supports mobile phones which come with Windows mobile and Symbian environments. It provides end users with the chance to bundle the program with new mobile phones in a package worth Bt1,000. "The program helps mobile users reduce the time they need to send messages as the prediction system makes it easier for users to find the word the want to include in their messages," said Pichitchai.
