Former deputy education minister Pramote dies

Former deputy education minister Pramote Sukhum died of natural causes at the age of 67 in his Bangkok home on Friday night, his relatives said.

His funeral will be held at Wat Phrasi Mahathat in Bang Khen district.

Pramote's daughter found his body on his bed at 7pm at his house in Soi Lat Phrao 42. His body was rushed to Paolo Siam Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.

During his last days Pramote had stayed in the quietest part of the house, where he spent his time drawing and writing, for he loved privacy, relatives said.

Several days ago Pramote, who had been troubled with heart disease and high blood pressure for some time, caught a fever and looked exhausted, so he took medicine and rested, relatives said.

The former Bangkok Democrat MP was a deputy education minister when then Democrat leader Chuan Leekpai was prime minister.
