Convention groups cooperate to expand

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and The Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) have signed a cooperative agreement to jointly promote and expand the MICE industry in Thailand to match other Asean countries.

The agreement was signed by Phornsiri Manoharn, governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, and Kajit Habanananda, director general of the TCEB.

The agreement aims to create a solid platform for the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions) industry. and covers cooperation between the two organisations in areas such as budget allocations for studies related to industry-personnel development and for trade and road shows to promote the industry in Thailand.

This includes support for advertising and publicity programs via print materials and on industry websites.

The cooperative agreement between TCEB and TICA will enhance operational and personnel performance of TICA's members. These comprise 258 organisations nationwide specialising in international convention services, including hotels and resorts, tour operators, professional convention and exhibition organisers, contractors and event-management companies.

TCEB also provides support for other private sector members who will have a positive impact on the future of the MICE industry in Thailand. To prepare for this future growth of the industry, TCEB will focus on improving personnel and operational performance. Advanced technology and management techniques will be aimed to maximise the MICE industry's integration in Thailand.
