Finance:Globlex links with LH Bank

Globlex Securities has joined hands with Land and Houses Retail Bank (LH Bank) as part of its plan to penetrate the customer groups of banks.
"We have planned to enlarge our customer base into banking clients. We offered our services to Land and Houses Retail Bank staff in the hope that this would be a springboard," parent company Globlex Holding managing director Natthawut Khemayotin said yesterday. Nattawut said coordination with LH Bank was still in the initial stage. Recently, Globlex Securities arranged a seminar on investment and invited LH Bank customers.
Seminar :Youth in focus Kasikornbank CEO Banthoon Lamsam is a key supporter and administrator of a Sino-Thai seminar entitled "Developing the Power of Youth: Building a Common Foundation of Quality", to be held next Tuesday at the bank's head office. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside over the seminar and provide an opening address on development of young people in remote areas. The seminar is being organised by the Princess's office and the All-China Youth Federation.
Foreign firms :Probe result dueThe Business Development Department will soon finalise its investigation into whether 12 multinational companies have breached the country's Foreign Business Act. The department also plans to forward its findings directly to the Department of Special Investigation instead of to the local police stations where the companies are located, said Kanissorn Navanugraha, director-general. He said the Commerce Ministry was working on the Foreign Business Act amendment. If the ministry cannot finalise the draft, the Cabinet will make the final decision.
Thailand post :Airport counter Thailand Post is ready to reopen its counter at Don Muang Airport in response to the restart of operations tomorrow. Corporate and marketing communications manager Parisa Pananond said the counter would provide full services including express mail, parcel delivery, online postal money orders and Pay at Post services. In addition, it will sell stamps for collecting.
Mega-projects :Progress report New developments in the long-awaited transport infrastructure mega-projects will be the subject of a major conference entitled "Transport Infrastructure Development and Financing: New Perspectives to Meet Urgent Needs" to be held next Wednesday at the Hotel Plaza Athene in Bangkok. The seminar will be hosted by the Asian Development Bank and United Kingdom Trade and Investment, and sponsored by KPMG, Halcrow and Malaysian law firm Zaid Ibrahim in cooperation with the Finance Ministry, the Transport Ministry and the National Economic and Social Development Board. It is being organised by Dataconsult.
