SET approves Bt10m for research institute

The board of the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has agreed to spend Bt10 million to establish the SET Research Institute to conduct study and development of growth of the local bourse.
SET president Patareeya Benjapolchai said the institute would provide data and analysis for development policies ensuring the internationalisation of the exchange and its preparation for future changes. "The institute will act as an intermediary in supporting overall operations of the exchange and the capital market," she said. An advisory council will formulate its overall direction and policy. The institute will promote social responsibility among corporate Thailand, too. - The Nation.
GHB's Khan honoured Government Housing Bank president Khan Prachubmoh has been named one of four regional winners of a Pacific Rim Bankers Programme distinguished leadership award. Washington University runs the programme. It looked at the management of banks in 20 Pacific-rim countries. Khan said the programme helped with management know how and experience and supported analysis and decision making in coping with globalisation. It encourages the bank to use modern technology to meet customer demands, he said. - The Nation.
