Jasmine starts Bt2 international calls

Internet service provider Jasmine Internet yesterday introduced an international call service, featuring a rate of Bt2 per minute if calling to 26 selected major countries.
The service is for calling any country via Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology. The rate varies according to destination but is Bt2 per minute when calling 26 countries including the US, Australia, the UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Germany, South Korea and Malaysia. Company president Somsak Padhana-anek said the service, called Thook Dee (Very Cheap), would target parents who want to call their children overseas. Jasmine Internet won a licence from the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to operate the service. "The service targets revenue of Bt70 million this year and Bt150 million next year," Somsak said. Currently, the company's Internet access service has 500 corporate and 40,000 individual customers. This year it targets revenue from all its services to reach Bt480 million. Last year it posted revenue of Bt420 million, with Bt30 million in net profit.
