CNS, AEC members happy with progress against graft

The Council for National Security and the Assets Examination Committee yesterday held a joint meeting and a working lunch to review the fight against corruption after six months in office.
Participants said the meeting took place in a jubilant mood as the AEC reached the prosecution stage for its first case on tax evasion involving ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra's wife Pojaman and her brother Bhanapot Damapong."The meeting and lunch proceeded very well as everyone was in a good mood," AEC chairman Nam Yimyaem said. Nam said the meeting did not focus on any particular agenda - although it reviewed progress on its anti-corruption campaign. The AEC will release its six-month report to the public on Tuesday, he said. "The AEC's blue ribbon accomplishment is the upcoming prosecution against Pojaman and Bhanapot and the next case is likely the Ratchadiphisek land scandal," he said, referring to the purchase of a Bt700-million plot by Pojaman.
