TITV may be run by 'service unit'

The plan for a service delivery unit to manage TITV station got the green light from the Public Sector Development Commission yesterday.
"As each SDU needs to have a clear mission, we have instructed the Public Relations Department to identify one for it and present it to our meeting on March 19," secretary-general Thosaporn Sirisumphand said yesterday. An SDU is a government body with streamlined work procedures and quasi-autonomy. The Public Relations Department was assigned by the PM's Office to take over TITV on March 8. If the SDU's mission statement satisfies the Public Sector Development Commission at its meeting on Monday, the proposal could be put to the Cabinet the next day, Thosaporn said. "If the Cabinet grants approval, the decision can be published in the Royal Gazette," he said.
