Thais move up
Thai players made a good start in the qualifying rounds of the US$200,000 Swiss Open Badminton Super Series in Basel on Monday.
Poompat Sapkulchananart won 21-13 21-14 over Pei Wee-chung of Malaysia in the men's singles first qualifying tie. He was due to face Austria's Juergen Koch in the second round later yesterday. Soratja Chansrisukot downed Diana Dimova 22-20 21-11, while Salakjit Ponsana had a comfortable 21-2 21-7 victory over Eva Sladekova of the Slovak Republic in the women's singles.
