Furniture :Rockworth targets Bt1 billion in revenue, higher exports

Furniture firm Rockworth expects its sales to reach Bt1 billion this year by developing new product designs to compete with imports and expanding its export markets, says managing director Chaiyong Pongsuthimanas.
The company last week announced 2006 revenues of Bt856 million and a net profit of Bt53.3 million - up 6 per cent and 47.6 per cent respectively from the previous year. Bt620 million of revenue came from the domestic market. Chaiyong said that the company had succeeded in expanding its export markets to Middle East and Southeast Asian countries through exclusive agents, which now number 23.
Major fair :'Otop to the World' next month The Export Promotion Department will hold "Otop to the World 2007" in the Challenger 1 Hall of Impact Muang Thong Thani from April 17-22. The fair will offer a complete range of quality products from the One Tambon One Product (Otop) project. The department's director-general, Rachane Potjanasuntorn, said the event played a key role in strengthening the economy through supporting household businesses and developing desirable Thai products to suit world market demand. He said the fair had become increasingly successful over the past six years, with last year's event attracting 87,000 visitors from almost 100 countries. This year, Otop to the World 2007 will present a huge selection of premium Otop products from all over the country, including gifts and decorative items, fashion and jewellery, health and beauty products, as well as food and beverages.
Aviation :Jetstar offers bargain flights The Qantas Group's budget airline Jetstar has launched its latest value offer for travellers bound for Australia. Jetstar has a special one-way Web fare on its three-times weekly Bangkok-Melbourne service from Bt4,500 (excluding surcharges, fees and taxes), available at jetstar.com. The special offer is available until midnight on March 18 for travel between March 19 and June 25, excluding the period April 2-15. Fares are subject to availability and are not available on all flights. Jetstar CEO Alan Joyce said the competitive low fares and regular direct flights between Thailand and Australia since November had been operating ahead of expectations for the carrier. Besides the Melbourne route, Jetstar flies thrice weekly between Phuket and Sydney.
