Three more bombing suspects identified

Three more individuals suspected of carrying out two of the nine bomb attacks in Bangkok on New Year's Eve will be identified and face arrest warrants next week, acting national police chief Seripisut Temiyavej said yesterday.

A man and a woman are suspected of having carried out the attack at Seacon Square and another man that at the Major Ratchayothin cinema complex.

Seripisut did not say how the three suspects were implicated or whether they simply appeared in video footage taken from security cameras at the sites.

The police general said he would be briefed on the three suspects in detail by police investigators on Monday and would approve a police request seeking arrest warrants against them if the evidence was sufficient.

Meanwhile he called on local media not to exaggerate travel and terror warnings by Western governments concerning possible threats in Bangkok.

He asked the public to trust in the joint work of military and police officers to protect them.
