Roomy and intelligent interiors

Space, bright décor and IT systems are all to the fore at Vista Park
High ceilings and bright colours were two of the main design parameters for Vista Park, an SC Asset town-house project on Prachacheun Road in Bangkok. Sure enough, the first impression when visiting one of Vista Park's newly decorated town houses is the feeling a space from the 5.2-metre ceilings in the first-floor living room and kitchen. The main colours are white and cream, adding to the "roomy" feeling inside the town house. According to SC Asset's senior interior designer, Udomsin Lattititham, the predominantly white interior was intended to create the impression of more width and depth, as well as giving a cleaner appearance. The cream colour of most of the main furnishings, including carpets, curtains and living-room sofa also creates a warm welcome for owners and visitors alike. One of the features of the town house is a multipurpose room, on the way to the second floor. Designed for total flexibility, it can become anything an owner wants, from a family area to working space. And since the town houses have three bedrooms and four bathrooms, there's no need to press it into any mundane service. It's also close to the main bedroom on the second floor. At the demonstration town home, Udomsin has created a family area in the multipurpose room, including a home theatre and an entertainment zone. To meet with popular demand for a feeling of closeness to nature, the Vista Park town houses use big windows, letting the outdoors in and adding once more to the roomy feeling. Provision for information technology also played a part in the design of the homes, making them different from others on the market. Udomsin says one of the main ideas in the design was to create "intelligent" houses, so all of the town houses come equipped to support IT systems and IT security, and new owners have the option to pay an additional Bt50,000 to Bt100,000 to have the systems installed. "Our customers don't have to invest in new electric cables to support IT systems because we have already installed them. The houses are ready for IT systems," she says. Using the "intelligent" house system, homeowners can use 3G technology from outside the house to log into the security system and examine the interior on their mobile-phone screens. The front door can also be unlocked by using a mobile phone. Udomsin advises new owners of the town houses to follow the design attributes and employ bright colours for interior décor. This way, the town houses will look more spacious than they really are, and bright colours will help match with other home decorating items. Somluck Srimalee The Nation
