ITV employees face uncertain future

The Public Relations Department will consider if it would extend employment contracts to iTV employees, once it is to take over and operate the television station, said PM's Office Minister Khunying Dhipawadee Meksawan.

She said that as the operator of the broacasting station, the PRD would need experienced employees. She said she would look into the employment issue.

Earlier, when MCOT Plc was named as the potential operator of iTV, the PM's Office said that all employees of iTV would be reemployed and become MCOT's employees with similar salaries and benefits they are enjoying at the old work place.

After midnight, to be terminated along with the broadcasting concession to iTV is the office rent contract with Shinawatra Building 3, said Dhipawadee. iTV's assets, which would fall under the control of the PM's Office, would then be removed out of the building, she said.

She also noted that all these mishaps occur because iTV has not followed through the concession.
