Bromsgrove are overall champs

Nond Ounmuang showed once again that he is one of the most exciting young talents in the Kingdom by winning the overall gross title with a one-over-par 73 in the inaugural International Schools Junior Golf Championship 2007 on the difficult Windsor Park and Golf Club course in Min Buri on Friday.

Nond, participating in class B, was clearly a cut above the rest in his group as he fired an eagle 2 and five birdies. The undulating, unforgiving fairways and the tail wind on monstrous par-5s affected the scores of every golfer, Nond including. The Bromsgrove International School student had five bogeys and a triple bogey that stopped him from shooting a low score.

Hosts Bromsgrove International School Thailand demonstrated their strength in a telling fashion by winning the team title. The school's students took the individual honours in most of the classes with an authoritative display of talent and skill.

Chawinroj Krobteeranon of American School of Bangkok and Voramate Aussarassakorn and Pornpak Rattanapakdeekul of Ramkhamhaeng Adventist International School made sure that Bromsgrove would not run away with all the titles on offer, salvaging some pride for the rest of the schools by emerging champions in their respective classes.

Seventy-three players from 17 international schools participated in the 18-hole event. Sponsors included Nok Air for the nearest-to-the-pin competition and Bangkok Airways for the longest-drive competition.
