Free River condo for a hole-in-one

Property developer Raimon Land will offer an Bt8-million condominium at The River project to any golfer who makes a hole-in-one at the seventh hole of the Johnnie Walker Classic in Phuket this week.
"We are sponsoring the seventh hole at the tournament," said Henri Young, who heads the firm's marketing unit. The River, considered one of Bangkok's most swanky residential sites, overlooks the Oriental and Shangri-La hotels. The 66-square metre prize is selling for about Bt120,000 a square metre. "On top of the condo, we are giving Bt3 million in cash to support the prestigious Asia-Pacific golf tournament at the Blue Canyon course in Phuket," added Young. The company has also given Bt1 million to sponsor The Nation's "Sixty Million-One Heart" book to commemorate His Majesty the King's reign. Young said Raimon Land would be working with activist Meechai Veeravaidhya to back a tree-growing project as part of a move to protect the environment with the help of rural communities. The Johnnie Walker tournament, which is being held from Thursday to Sunday, was nearly cancelled after protests by anti-alcohol groups, but Young said the event was a great boost to Thailand's golf tourism, an often neglected segment of the hospitality industry.
