Four more projects to honour His Majesty

Four new projects marking His Majesty the King's 80th birthday will get government approval soon, Deputy Prime Minister MR Pridiyathorn Devakula said yesterday.
They are the Bt635-million construction of a pavilion for the golden Buddha image at Wat Traimit Witthayaram, a 12-storey addition to the Veterans' Hospital, returning elephants to the wild and an international seminar. The seminar on credit for farmers and agricultural development will be held from October 31 to November 3 at the Naval Auditorium, said Pridiyathorn, who chairs a panel overseeing the projects. A new song honouring His Majesty is also on the way. Artists led by Suthep Wongkamhaeng will compose the song and an 80-member choir will record it. The government has earmarked Bt250 million for the pavilion and the rest will be raised from donations and charity events. A total of 81 elephants will be returned to the wild. Thirty-five have already been returned. Another 46 will be purchased from zoos, at Bt500,000 each, and returned to the wild.
