In brief :Thai promotion for Kyushu food

The Bangkok branch of the Japan External Trade Organisation (Jetro) recently held the "Kyushu, Japan Food Promotion 2007" at the Anoma Hotel to promote high-quality food from the island of Kyushu.
Seiji Tazo, trade promotion director of Jetro Bangkok, said the event not only promoted Kyushu's special dishes, but also the export and import of foods between Japan and Thailand. He said Thailand ranked sixth among countries with the highest import value of Japanese food. The Kingdom last year imported US$141.64 million (Bt5 billion) of Japanese food, an increase of 26 per cent over 2005. Popular items include sashimi, grade tuna, sanma fish, miso, hotate scallops and apples. The bulk of the imports are distributed to Bangkok and tourist destinations such as Koh Samui, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Sri Racha district of Chon Buri, where there are sizeable concentrations of Japanese expatriates.
LPN Development has bumper 2006 LPN Development has announced revenue of Bt5.02 billion and net profit of Bt765.23 million for 2006, up 40 per cent and 30 per cent respectively from the year before. Managing director Opas Sripayak yesterday said the company had pre-sales worth Bt385 million that would be booked to be revenue in the first half. The overall sales target for the year is Bt6.3 billion. LPN will introduce two new condominium projects worth a combined Bt1.2 billion in the first half, he said.
