Highlight of the week :Vasana, Nam to testify before tribunal

Former Election Commission chief Vasana Puemlarp and current Assets Examination Committee chairman Nam Yimyaem will testify before the Election Tribunal tomorrow.
The tribunal is hearing allegations that the Thai Rak Thai Party committed fraud in last year's general election. Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has submitted a 10-page affidavit denying the claims.
All eyes on PTV debut this weekAttention this week will be on People's Television (PTV), a new broadcaster that has insisted on starting its service on Thursday in spite of a threat of legal action from the authorities. Prime Minister's Office Minister Thirapat Serirangsan maintains the satellite broadcaster is illegal and will take action if it proceeds. A group close to Thaksin and the Thai Rak Thai Party is believed to fund PTV. Some key Thai Rak Thai figures left the party to run the station.
Chaturon dares junta with North trip This weekend sees Thai Rak Thai caretaker leader Chaturon Chaisang on another upcountry visit, this time to the North. He was recently in the Northeast. The trips are seen as an act of defiance against the junta and its ban on political gatherings and activity.
