EVA Air expands its aircraft fleet

EVA Air has taken delivery of its fifth Boeing 777-300ER, at Taoyuan Airport, near the Taiwanese capital of Taipei.
The aircraft will join two other B777s that were delivered last year and are now in use on Los Angeles-to-Asia service. The addition of the new aircraft equips EVA to use B777-300ERs on all of its BR15 Los Angeles night flights to Taiwan. With 17 flights a week, EVA has greater frequency on this route than any other Asian carrier. Multiple daily flights and convenient schedules make it easy for passengers to travel onward to destinations throughout Asia with just one stop. "EVA Air is proud to serve our passengers with the B777," said YY Chen, senior vice president and general manager, EVA America Head Office. "It is a fine piece of equipment. Not only is it outfitted nose to tail with the latest passenger comforts, but it also gets travellers to their destinations in the shortest amount of time." Highlighting the delivery ceremony for EVA's latest B777, Boeing officials presented a Certificate of Congratulations to EVA Air for a December 2006 flight that set a record for the longest equivalent still-air distance in commercial service for an airline using the Boeing 777-300ER (extended range). Chen accepted the award on behalf of EVA.
